Inbetween worlds

Mezi světy

Inbetween Worlds tells the story of a young Vietnamese woman, Mai, living in Prague. Just when Mai, and her friends attend a Czech wedding, her parents call her with a request. They would like her to marry a son of their close friend in Vietnam. If Mai agrees to marry Duc, he would be given permanent residency in the Czech Republic and she would receive 30.000 EUR for the marriage. The film is about dilemmas that come with fake marriage: is it morale? How much pretending does it take? Can Mai have a boyfriend aside? And also about our free will to choose – shall Mai help the boy – favor the others before herself?
